Hospital Pipework Integration

The Requirement

Neonex Digital was commissioned to carry out a 3D laser survey across four plant rooms in a large Nottingham hospital. The goal was to support upcoming heating system upgrades by delivering accurate Revit models for use in pipework integration and spatial planning.

The hospital’s internal piping designers needed to identify tie-in points and verify available space for routing new heating pipework. To ensure design continuity, our scan data had to align perfectly with earlier survey data already in use. Using high-precision laser scanning equipment, our team captured comprehensive point cloud data in a single day, carefully registered to the existing model coordinate system.

Within two weeks, Neonex delivered 3D Revit models that integrated seamlessly with the hospital’s design environment, allowing the engineering team to plan pipework integration with confidence and efficiency.

This project avoided any disruption to hospital operations, saved time compared to manual methods, and ensured dimensional accuracy across all stages of the upgrade process.

SPEED

One-day scan delivered enough survey data to build aligned 3D models to support heating system upgrades and efficient pipework integration across the hospital.

We have found Lewis and his team to be proactive and flexible in their scanning activities, often requiring the accessing of awkward areas and the spatial linking together of dispersed modelled areas. The resulting 3d Models produced by Lewis and his team have been comprehensive and accurate, and delivered within reasonable timescales. We have also found the depository of scanned image data being accessible in a navigable webportal (Cintoo) Model a very useful tool in developing and planning our works, reducing the need to make further site survey return visits by the designers.
