Cladding survey completed safely, accurately, and without scaffolding delays.
Terrestrial 3D Laser Scanning
TheRequirement
Neonex Digital was commissioned to deliver a detailed cladding survey across five prominent buildings in Whitehall, London. The objective was to accurately capture the locations and dimensions of external windows and existing cladding—without the need for scaffolding or manual access.
Using high-precision tripod-mounted laser scanners, our team recorded millions of measurement points in just a few hours, producing a complete point cloud dataset with sub-centimetre accuracy. The data was issued in Autodesk Recap format, enabling the client’s in-house design team to produce their own 2D measured elevation drawings directly from the scan.
This digital cladding survey approach not only removed health and safety concerns associated with working at height but also saved significant time and cost compared to traditional survey methods. The point cloud was later shared with the scaffolding contractor, allowing them to plan access routes and estimate materials for upcoming cladding replacement works.
By capturing everything in a single site visit, Neonex ensured the project progressed efficiently, accurately, and without disruption.
SPEED & COST
3D scanning saved time and avoided the high cost of scaffolding, delivering accurate cladding data in a single visit.
Fast, accurate, and saved us weeks on access planning. The scan data plugged straight into our workflow with no issues.
